The Planting of a Queen’s Green Canopy Platinum Jubilee Tree at Millington

On Monday 4th October, Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant, The Earl of Caledon KCVO JP, visited Millington Primary School to mark the planting of the Queen’s Green Canopy Platinum Jubilee Tree on our school grounds.

The Queen’s Green Canopy  (QGC) Celebration Trees were gifted to selected primary schools in 69 cities across the UK.  70 QGC Celebration Trees were gifted, with plantings led across the country by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenants. This initiative highlighted the educational aspects of trees and the significance of giving young people access to nature, encouraging wider engagement with the QGC across the school curriculum.

Also present at the special ceremony were the Board of Governors and Lord Mayor of Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council Aldermann Glenn Barr.

Our P7 school choir led the whole school singing of the National Anthem and a special moment for our school was shared by all.
